      Hi,

Any recommendations for a silicone sealant to fix leaks around stanchions? Also any good wax suggestions?

      Cheers,
      Brian/

        Hi Brian,
Sealing the stanchions should not be done with silicon sealant. You need a stronger and more permanent sealant like 3M 5200.
My favourite wax is Meguires #50 cleaner wax. Wax on wax off and keeps boat looking great. I use it twice a year.
Blue Water Yachts recommends a 3M product for removing oxidation to restore the original shine and then a 3M wax. Check out their website for details

My recommendation would be to re-bed the stanchions with butyl tape.

This video discusses the different 3M products referenced by Rick.

This Sailrite video discusses the use of butyl tape. You can also search “re-bedding with butyl tape” in Youtube for other videos.

re-bed the stanchions is the only way. Sealing around it is only a temporary stop gap.
