I am told the new Moeller tanks will not fit. Is that because the fuel connection or cap is too high for the seat to go all the way down? ? If so, how much too high? With a heat gun on a brand new tank, I think it would be easy to heat up the area around the fittings and depress it half an inch or so if lowering the fittings slightly would solve the problem.

Alternatively, Has anyone replaced their tank with the type of fuel cell designed for hot rods? Any drawbacks or cautions? These are a fraction the cost of the replacement metal tanks sold by Blue Water.

      Something like this: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/rjs-3010301

This particular site – Summit Racing – has hundreds of different size fuel tanks to choose from in plastic, aluminum and stainless steel. The stainless tanks are really pretty but very expensive.

      cheers
