    Club Night Presentation – 2018 MEMBER’S CRUISES

Hopefully everyone is enjoying the Cruising Season. It is a little smokey in the Pacific Northwest but it is still nicer on the water than it is on land. The Rear Commodore’s Cruise to La Conner was a great success with 11 crews participating. This is the furthest south we have ventured on one of our Club Cruises but we had such a great time I’m sure it won’t be our last visit to the Puget Sound area. The wrap up of the cruise can be found HERE.

    2018 SUCIA RAFT-UP
    Fossil Bay on Sucia Island
    September 1-3

The last cruise of the season is just over a week away. If you are planning on attending please post your sail plan HERE. Include where and when you are departing and any details of your plan. Remember the first 10 boats to post their sail plan will receive a $10 prize. Early posting allows our members to plan to travel as flotillas. It is always more fun and safer to travel with others. As important as it is for you to post your sail plan so we know who to expect and when, it is even more important to update your post if plans change so we don’t worry about you and other boats aren’t waiting needlessly for you to join them.

    Ricky’s All Day Grill
    8720 204 St, Langley

The meeting will start at 6:30 with the main topic of consideration being the location of next year’s Commodore and Rear Commodore’s Cruises. So far we only have 1 suggestion for each cruise. If you have a suggestion for a cruise location press the BLUE button on the left and send your suggestion to me so it can be considered at the meeting. The Presentation after the meeting will be Slide Shows of the Various MEMBER Cruises that have happened this year. If you have a presentation to share, please bring it along to the meeting.

For those who couldn’t make it, you missed Darry’s presentation BOAT BALANCE – How to sail a MacGregor. Almost a week long course stuffed into a 1 hour presentation that provided those in attendance enough information to practice for years to come. The presentation can be found under the RESOURCES TAB/DOWNLOADS/CLUB NIGHT PRESENTATIONS/MYCBC – BOAT BALANCE 2018. You can’t get this “MacGregor Specific” information anywhere else. Thanks Darry for the great presentation.

The MINUTES and 2018 CLUB CRUISE ITINERARIES can be found under the RESOURCES TAB/DOWNLOADS. Check them out for the details of the upcoming sailing season.

Check out the details in the ITINERARIES and even if your boat isn’t ready to hit the water yet drop by and spend some time. You can hitch a ride on other member’s boats for the Saturday Safety Sail or the Sunday Regatta/Race or join in on the Potluck dinners Saturday and Sunday. If you are coming please post under the WATER MACTIVITIES TAB/CLUB CRUISES/BLAINE REGATTA drop down menus so we know who will be there.

    1. The Minutes are posted under the Resources/Downloads tab.
    2. Membership is 69 Boats with almost a dozen new members this year.
    3. Two perfectly foul MacFoulies were completed last weekend. Thanks COACH Darry and member boats Scallywag and Yemaja.

    Highlights of March Club Night

All the info you need to keep track of MYCBC activities can be found under the Resources Tab above. Look in the Downloads Folder for Club Night Minutes, Cruise Itineraries, Calendar of Events and More.

Another great Club Night happened on March 9. Thanks to the members who attended and all the great decisions they helped make. A Special thank you to Past Commodore and Education Officer Darry for the great presentation helping everyone with their UNDERSTANDING of WEATHER. His powerpoint presentation can be found under the Resources Tab/ Downloads/ Club Night Presentations.

Most of the comments on the new location at Ricky’s All Day Grill in Walnut Grove were positive. We still need to work out some details with our projector and screen but now we know what to expect. There will be one  more change for the April 13 Club Night. The restaurant closes at 9:00 (like the old ABC did) and it is important that we have all our bills paid and are out of the building by then. In order to ensure we get everything done the Meeting will now be starting at 6:00 followed by the presentation at 7:00 so we can be finished by 8:30. This should give us ample time for a few conversations, paying of bills and leaving by 9:00. Hopefully these new times will work for everyone and we can maintain the format of our Club Nights.

    $400 in CASH PRIZES

To encourage Members to post their Sail Plans for Club Cruises as early as possible, the Club is offering a $10 Early Bird Prize to the first 10 members to post a sail plan for MacRendezvous, Commodore’s Cruise, Rear Commodore’s Cruise and Sucia Raft-Up. The Sail Plan must include the Location, Date and Time they are departing for the Cruise Destination, Tide Gate information and a plan for after the Cruise either returning or continuing on to other locations. The $10 prize will be awarded at the Cruise location to the first 10 members who posted their plans online. Only those members who posted their plans online and arrived at the Cruise are eligible for the prize.

It is hoped that the early posting of Sail Plans will encourage all our members, especially new members, to create their own sail plan or find other members to “buddy-boat” with.

The Club Cruises will be available under the Water MacTivities tab on Sunday December 3 at 1800 for members to begin posting their Sail Plans
